Christian Bolt’s work is characterized by a continuous search for the human being and its possible manifestations. Questions about man as an individual as well as his existence in his sociocultural and historic context constitute the core of his work. The art of classical sculpture and painting is paired with almost complete abstraction in exciting ways in Bolt’s “Archäologie des Menschlichen” (Archaeology of Man). Analysis, the question of figuration, and the genesis of form reflect the comprehensive examination and deep understanding of the history of European philosophy and art history.
